Rev. Timothy MacDonald, Priest

Tim MacDonald is a Florida native, born in Daytona Beach. His earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Jacksonville University. While in the U.S. Navy, he served on a minesweeper. He then received a Master of Science from USF. He will graduate with a Master of Divinity from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in May, 2025.

Tim MacDonald lived in the Manatee/Sarasota area for over 25 years prior to undertaking seminary studies in 2021. While going through a divorce, after almost 20 years of marriage, Tim found his way back to the Church. He joined St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Lakewood Ranch, where he found the healing he needed and rededicated himself to Jesus Christ. He took on leadership roles, including Parish Treasurer, Senior Warden, and Junior Warden.

His three adult children are all scattered along the East Coast. Maddux, 26, is a software developer for General Motors. Calen, 24, is pursuing his PhD at Cornell University. Delanie, 22, is working in the medical field as she earns her degree as a Physician’s Assistant.

On January 20 of 2024, Tim was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons.  Ordination to the Priesthood followed in August, performed here at Nativity.

In his spare time, Tim likes to immerse himself in God’s creation. He loves to fish and he owns both a boat and a kayak. He also loves hiking, biking, and sitting on the beach watching a good sunrise or sunset. Sitting with family and friends and He loves to cook, so talking through and after a delicious meal with family and friends also rates high. More than anything else, he finds his greatest pleasure doing God’s work.

Rev. Rosalind Hall, Deacon

Deacon Ros is a native Floridian and member of Church of the Nativity since 1986. Deacon Ros grew up in Tampa where she attended Catholic schools and transferred into the Episcopal Church in 1978. She is a 1981 graduate of LSU Medical Center as a Radiologic Technologist – a position she now holds at Intercoastal Medical Group in Sarasota as a mammographer.

In 2015 Ros became an ordained parochial deacon after completing her studies through the Episcopal Diocese of SW Florida. As a deacon at Church of the Nativity Ros assists in pastoral care duties of the parish, assisting in weekly services and other duties as our Lord directs. Deacon Ros is married to Dennis Hall. Ros also has a daughter, Rachel, who resides in North Carolina.

Martha A. Lopez, Director of Music

Martha Lopez is Director of Music at the Church of the Nativity, where she serves as choir director and organist.  First trained as a classical pianist, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music from Stetson University and earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of South Florida, Tampa.  Martha is a lyric-coloratura soprano and  performs nationally in recital and as a concert soloist.  She has performed with Opera Tampa, Saint Petersburg Opera, The New Century Opera, North Port Symphony and the Pops Orchestra of Sarasota.  Martha has released four recordings with pianist Lurray Myers and has served on the music faculty at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota since 2007. She also maintains a private voice and piano studio.
